Podiatry - 'Feet First'
Year: 6 - 12
Time required: 50 minutes
Students are given a tour of the QUT Health Clinics Podiatry area, with a comprehensive overview of the high tech equipment used in clinical podiatry.
Students remove their shoes and podiatrists assess for different foot types. Our clinician and team of podiatry students will then perform an assessment and provide explanations of the results using a pedoscope (light box).
Students are shown orthoses and are given an explanation of how these are made. Plaster casts are taken of several students' feet to show them the start of the process.
CARRS-Q Simulator Experience
Year: 11 & 12
Time required: 50 minutes
The Centre for Accident Research and Road Safety – Queensland (CARRS-Q) is one of the leading centres in Australia dedicated to research, education and outreach activities in road safety, and is a vital player in the international pursuit of road safety. As one of only two internationally recognised, university-based research centres of its kind in Australia, the centre was created to address the enormous human, economic and social factors resulting from road crashes.
