Why study legal practice at QUT?

We provide our students with the practical legal training that they need for admission to the legal profession as Australian Lawyers.

We assist our students to build up a portfolio of practical know-how that will be a guide and resource for them in the real world of legal practice.

Learn by working on simulated legal problems and tasks - the type of work that real lawyers undertake:

  • draft legal documents
  • write legal letters
  • carry out the steps in basic property, litigation and commercial transactions and proceedings.

Many of our students complete our course online while they are working in private legal practice or for government. Students have access to sophisticated online materials and our students enjoy the support of staff who have practised law as solicitors or barristers. Extensive electronic and other resources of the Clayton Utz Law Library are also available.

Our students are able to equip themselves with the foundations of the knowledge, practical know-how, skills and values that they need to meet the challenges of real-life legal practice and become the successful lawyers of the future.
