Why study fashion at QUT?
QUT's conceptually driven, designer-level fashion course is delivered in a studio setting. Your individual design practice will be contextualised through units in fashion history and theory and strengthened through an introduction to sustainable practices and by the acquisition of practical skills in business and computer-aided design.
QUT delivers the only fashion bachelor degree in Queensland. At QUT Fashion we will nurture your creative spirit and embrace your individuality. Our fashion design courses will develop your design practice through intensive studio classes and your work will be informed through studies in fashion history and theory. You will be challenged to create beautiful and desirable fashion while considering socially responsible and environmentally sustainable practices. Final year students in the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Fashion) have the opportunity to experience real-world learning through work placements and to be involved in innovative community engagement projects. In the final year of the BFA Fashion degree your work will be showcased to industry.
Career outcomes
Graduates have had an impact on the emerging Brisbane fashion scene and have successfully launched their careers internationally. Many of our graduates are entrepreneurial and have started their own fashion labels or small businesses. They excel as independent designers and as designers in larger fashion houses. Others work as fashion stylists, international trend forecasters and product development managers, living and working in cities all over the world; from London to Sydney, Brisbane to Paris. Pathways to further study, including honours and research degrees are available.
