Why study biological sciences at QUT?

Our research and consultancy work informs our course development to ensure our courses are up-to-date and relevant.

Our courses give you the opportunity to gain a depth of knowledge in the key areas of plant and animal biology, and their interaction with each other and the environment.

We integrate theory and practice with a strong focus on experimental design so that you can become equally skilled at the desk, in the laboratory and in the field, with the critical thinking ability needed to tackle real-world problems.

You'll be exposed to cutting edge research and have the opportunity to work with and develop links with industry partners and research groups.

Our graduates are prepared for a range of employment and career pathways, including research, across a variety of industries in areas including:

  • pharmaceutics
  • genetics
  • botany
  • zoology.

From 2012, students will study in our new $230 million Science and Engineering Centre and Community Hub which integrates science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines in a world leading model.
