Why study architecture and design at QUT?
As an architecture student, you'll be part of a vibrant, multidisciplinary school with excellent connections to the real and professional world of design.
Design is a fundamental discipline of the creative industries, based on an industry-focused combination of creativity, communication, technology, and business enterprise. From 2012, we will increase our focus on design by establishing an expanded School of Design within the Creative Industries Faculty.
Our architecture courses focus on sustainable systems and the application of advanced digital design tools to address sustainability, supported by integrated teaching, practice and research. You will participate in project-based architectural design units conducted in a studio setting, and get practical workplace experience to meet the requirements for professional registration and recognition as an architect.
Diversify your study and acquire specialisation by enrolling in elected minors or second major area of study.
Collaborate with the design community through public lectures, student-run exhibitions and off-campus and international study tours to European design capitals such as Italy, Switzerland, Germany and France.
Career outcomes
Graduates can find employment in the fields of architecture and building design. Upon completion of the Master of Architecture and the required period of practical experience, graduates are eligible to sit for registration as an architect in Australia.
