Why study acting at QUT?
QUT's conservatoire-style acting course will educate, train and nurture your creative potential from a novice to a professional. It offers a rich program of study that fosters the development of bold, truthful, and passionate actors.
The staff are committed to offering you a learning environment that challenges and inspires you to be innovative and imaginative actors. You will graduate with an understanding of the profession, ready to identify your niche within it.
QUT offers the only undergraduate acting degree in Queensland and is designed for those who want to become professional actors. You will experience three years of intensive training and performing, and graduate as an employable stage and screen actor.
Your screen work will include both studio and on-location shoots. During your time here you will perform classic and contemporary texts, presented at QUT precincts such as the Gardens Theatre and the black-box theatre, The Loft.
Our notable graduates include:
- Gyton Grantley - AFI and Silver Logie award winner
- Michael Dorman (Secret Life of Us, Daybreakers)
- Wayne Blair - actor turned director
- James Stewart - Helpmann Award nominee.
Career outcomes
Acting graduates work as actors for stage, film and television. They have won leading roles in national and state theatre companies, television series, mini-series and feature films. Others successfully self-produce opportunities in film and theatre.
