Overview
The workshop will cover issues of emerging policy, current and future capability and recent legal developments in defence procurement. It will contribute to the debate and strategic evaluation of priorities for Australian defence procurement.
Objectives
The workshop helps participants to:
- understand the trends and patterns of global defence procurement
- expose their impact on the Australian market
- appreciate the values and skills essential for strategy formulation to meet current and future defence procurement needs.
Outcomes
Participants will gain a better understanding of the dynamics of the international defence procurement policy and their implications for Australia.
Your Presenter
Professor Bovis is a leading authority in public procurement and public-private partnerships whoo specialises in anti-trust law and policy, with particular emphasis on public sector management.
He is Special Advisor to the UN on Public Private Partnerships and Academic Advisor to the EU Commission on the Single Market. He advises national governments and industry across the world on public sector reforms and has been instrumental in structuring flagship public-private partnerships in the UK and internationally.
Professor Bovis has acted as legal advisor to the Canadian Federal Government on public-private partnerships and specialist advisor to the Chinese Government on military procurement. He has also acted as legal counsel to the largest global manufacturer of aerospace and defence technology on public procurement.
Professor Bovis has published extensively in international legal and management journals and has produced 74 books, monographs and articles on European and business subjects. His academic work has been translated into different languages, including: Chinese, French and German.
He is editor-in-chief of the European Public-Private Partnerships Law Review, published by Lexxion and contributing editor of the Encyclopaedia of Competition Law, published by Sweet and Maxwell. He has also served on the editorial board of legal journals such as European Public Law, Company Lawyer, Amicus Curiae and International Corporate Law.
