This short course offers an overview of social media tools and how they are used to promote issues and agendas. We go through the dos and don'ts of using social media for professional communication. Who should participate

Individuals or teams interested in understanding Facebook, Twitter and Google+ for their organisation or for individual practice. This course is particularly for staff who work as social media managers or officers for their organisations.

This course is open to anyone over the age of 18, including international participants.

This course earns one Design Institute of Australia (DIA) CPD point per hour.

Learn how to use social media for professional communication. We focus on the strengths and weaknesses of Facebook, Twitter and Google+, as well as a range of related tools.

Drawing on examples of best practice and notable failures, we highlight how social media is used in a range of professional contexts. We identify the benefits and the pitfalls.

Working with instructors and the rest of your group, you will test your own social media campaign strategies to examine their effectiveness and explore new opportunities for your organisation or business.

Prerequisites

Basic experience using standard social media platforms is welcomed but not required to participate.

Early bird discount

We offer a 10% early bird discount if you register 4 weeks before the course starts.

Registrations

If the course is full, please email the Office of Continuing Professional Education to register your interest. We will advise you by email if a second class becomes available.

Registrations close 10 working days before the start of the course. Subject to availability, we will take late registrations, however, you will incur a $100 administration fee.

Cancellation

To cancel your registration, you must apply in writing to the course manager at the Office of Continuing Professional Education. If you cancel 10 business days before the course starts, we will fully refund your fee, less the non-refundable $100 registration fee.

No registration refunds will be made within 10 business days of the course starting.

QUT Creative Industries reserves the right to cancel a course due to unforeseen circumstances or should insufficient registrations be received to run a short course. In this event, we will advise you as soon as possible, and provide a full refund or register you for another course of equivalent value. QUT are not responsible for any expenses you may have incurred if the course is cancelled.
