Cost

Workshop modules

$1,535 including GST

You can choose to complete the workshop module without the assessment component and receive recognition of course participation.

Workshop and assessment modules

$2,047 including GST

Assessment includes a work book and essays. You will need to successfully complete the assessment modules to be eligible for credit towards postgraduate qualifications.

Australian College of Health Service Managers discount

Australian College of Health Service Managers (ACHSM) members receive a 10% discount. When you register you'll need to enter a discount code provided by ACHSM along with your membership number.

Eligible for credit/admission

Credit (advanced standing) into a QUT Master of Health Management, Health Science or Public Health award course is available if you choose and successfully complete the Workshop and Assessment Modules.

Content

This course covers:

  • quality management concepts, programs and methods
  • healthcare governance including patient safety
  • accreditation
  • measuring health care performance
  • risk management
  • change management.

Course materials

You will receive reference texts and online access to databases. No textbook is required.

Outcomes

On completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • discuss the underlying concepts and principles of quality management in health care including clinical governance
  • develop quality management programs and design criteria audits to evaluate health services using quality management tools
  • understand the health organisation accreditation process including standards and survey cycles
  • understand outcome performance measures, clinical audit and use data to improve outcomes
  • understand the concepts of clinical credentialing and profiling within a clinical quality framework
  • examine and discuss issues relating to administrative and clinical data quality, documentation and safety within an increasingly electronic environment
  • understand root concepts of risk management, root cause analysis and organisational change management necessary to implement process change.

Payment

When you register for the course, you will create an account with us and pay your fees online by credit or debit card (preferred payment option). There is an option to pay via invoice, if payment by credit/debit card is not possible.

You can access your account, including your invoice, using your email address and password.

FEE-HELP and HECS-HELP are not available for Continuing Professional Education courses.

Cancellation

To cancel your registration, you must apply in writing to the Course Manager at the Office of Continuing Professional Education.

If you withdraw before 1 March 2013, your tuition fees will be refunded less $100. No refunds are applicable after this date.

We reserve the right to cancel the course under certain circumstances, such as low registration numbers. If this happens, we will advise you as soon as possible, and give you a full refund. We are not responsible for any expenses you may have incurred if the course is cancelled.
