If you register for the 'with assessment' option and pass the formal assessment, you receive a Certificate of Attainment. This entitles you to advanced standing towards QUT's PYP401: Introduction to Road Safety. This unit forms part of the requirements for the Graduate Certificate in Road Safety and Graduate Diploma in Road Safety.
Otherwise you receive a Certificate of Attendance.

The Centre for Accident Research & Road Safety - Queensland (CARRS-Q) Introduction to Road Safety course provides an introduction to major road safety principles, issues and practices, emphasising the multidisciplinary nature of road safety.
You will learn road safety principles used in a variety of situations, such as:
- crash analysis
- crash data collection and interpretation
- regulation
- strategy in road safety
- research, and
- community road safety practice.
We highlight the importance of the scientific approach to road safety and to evidence-based practice. You will develop information retrieval skills, focusing on road safety databases and information sources. The course will develop your skills in:
- identifying and profiling important road safety issues
- identifying and describing factors that contribute to crashes or to elevation of crash risk, and
- applying conceptual frameworks (eg: the Haddon matrix) to describing and understanding road safety issues and the countermeasures used to address them.
Case studies will be used wherever possible to illustrate principles and practice.

Payment can only be made online with a credit card.
Early-bird discount
A 10% early-bird discount is offered to all participants who register 4 weeks prior to the course commencement date.
Registration
Registrations close 10 working days prior to the commencement of the course. Subject to availability, late registrations will be accepted, however will incur a $100 administration fee.
If the course is full, please email the Office of Continuing Professional Education to register your interest. You will be advised via email should a second class become available.
Cancellation
To cancel your registration, you must apply in writing to the Course Manager at the Office of Continuing Professional Education. If you cancel 10 business days before the course commences, you will receive a full refund minus a non-refundable $100 registration fee.
No registration refunds will be made within 10 business days of the course starting.
We reserve the right to cancel the course under certain circumstances, such as low registration numbers. If this happens, we will advise you as soon as possible, and give you a full refund. We are not responsible for any expenses you may have incurred if the course is cancelled.
You may request to transfer to another Creative Industries short course up to the time of the course commencement and subject to availability. You will be charged a $100 administration fee if you choose to transfer.
Registrations close two weeks before course commencement date, unless sold out.
