Whether you are an artist, teacher, fledgling collector, or just a keen gallery visitor, this course will expand your knowledge of fine art and enhance your confidence and skills in visual analysis. This course is open to anyone over the age of 18, including international participants.

What will I learn?
At the conclusion of this short course you will have a clear overview of the timeline of modern art in the Western world and will have also developed some familiarity with the specialised vocabulary and visual codes of the gallery environment. You will be introduced to the major styles and movements of fine art during the last century over three lecture sessions.
Notes and readings for the course will be provided.
Lecture 1
The first lecture will examine the post-Impressionists (such as Vincent Van Gogh) and cover Expressionism, Cubism, Dada and Surrealism.
Lecture 2
The second lecture will discuss movements that emerged after 1945 and include Abstract Expressionism, Minimalism, Conceptual art and Postmodernism.
Lecture 3
The third lecture will consider developments in Contemporary Art such as installation art, new painting, post-photography, participatory art, and video and filmic art.

This course is open to anyone over the age of 18, including international participants.
Early bird discount
A 10% early bird discount is offered to all participants who register 4 weeks prior to the course commencement date.
Registration
Registrations close 10 working days prior to the commencement of the course. Subject to availability, late registrations will be accepted, however will incur a $100 administration fee.
If the course is full, please email the Office of Continuing Professional Education to register your interest. You will be advised via email should a second class become available.
Cancellation
To cancel your registration, you must apply in writing to the Course Manager at the Office of Continuing Professional Education. If you cancel 10 business days before the course commences, you will receive a full refund minus a non-refundable $100 registration fee.
No registration refunds will be made within 10 business days of the course starting.
We reserve the right to cancel the course under certain circumstances, such as low registration numbers. If this happens, we will advise you as soon as possible, and give you a full refund. We are not responsible for any expenses you may have incurred if the course is cancelled.
