Details

Studies in Literacy study area is designed to meet the needs of beginning and experienced teachers as well as other educators who have a strong interest in the literacy development of their students and clients.

You will engage with current and historical issues and debates, as well as specific, more specialised areas of interest within the broad domain of literacy. You will examine current issues such as strong moves world-wide to standardise literacy curriculum and assessment and how you can productively and ethically address linguistic and social diversity in your context.

Career outcomes

Graduate Certificate in Education (Studies in Literacy) will increase your expertise in current issues in literacy education that will prepare you to meet the changing demands of government policy and social diversity in the contemporary workplace. Graduates have found that studying in this area brings the satisfaction that comes with ongoing professional development and the confidence and expertise that helps them to take on leadership and coaching roles in literacy education and/or to pursue further postgraduate study.
