Graduate Certificate in Education (Information and Communication Technology –ICT) focuses on the different roles that technology, particularly contemporary digital technology, plays across all education sectors. It helps you re-think teaching and learning in contemporary contexts characterised by significant and rapid technological change. Educators, including classroom teachers, technology leaders and knowledge workers, have used the skills and perspectives of this course to solve critical problems and take on innovative leadership roles. The ICT study area is built around units that advance deep perspectives of the roles that digital technology can have in curricula, pedagogy, learners and leadership. You will critique the rhetoric and reality of ICT integration in learning networks, learn about the significance of digital learning for the future of our information and learning society, investigate the nature of emergent technologies and apply this understanding to a learning context. The units will also assist you in designing and moderating worthwhile learning experiences in online environments or physical environments that make use of digital technologies.

Across these units, emphasis is placed on a balance of practical and theoretical issues, which are used to better understand contemporary practice involving digital technology. Assessment is scoped so that educators from different sectors, including schools, vocational institutes, government, and industry are encouraged to apply their ICT understandings around real projects and issues.

You will graduate from thisstudy area with an understanding of complex relationships between digital technology and pedagogy and the nature of digital technologies as they relate to educational change. As International students on a student visa can only study full-time, ICT, which is only offered part-time, is not available to them.
