Why choose this course?
QUT was the first provider of tertiary nurse education in Queensland and has more than 30 years of industry consultation and experience. Our collaboration with industry ensures this course is innovative in design and produces graduates who can respond to real-world health challenges. Our partnerships with healthcare facilities mean you can complete your placements in areas of nursing practice that are of interest to you, for example, women's health or paediatrics. You will also develop specific skills in the Clinical Simulation Centre, a facility that simulates environments and situations that mirror real workplace environments.
Course summary
During this course, you will study a combination of nursing theory and practice, with supporting studies in biological, behavioural and social sciences. A significant proportion of the course is clinically based, offering you unparalleled practical experience. Industry clinical placements are available in public and private hospitals and community services throughout Brisbane and in regional and rural areas of Queensland. You may also have the opportunity to travel overseas and provide health services to communities in developing countries. As a graduate nurse, you will have the confidence and technical skill base to provide high-quality services in a proactive manner.
Applicants who have completed a Diploma of Nursing (Pre-enrolment) will be awarded one year of advanced standing. This allows you to complete the Bachelor of Nursing in two years instead of three years.
