Caboolture virtual tour

The Caboolture virtual tour is a snapshot of life at QUT through the eyes of our students. QUT's Caboolture campus opened in 2000, providing higher education opportunities to the region. Student numbers and facilities continue to grow and develop. The campus offers courses in business, creative industries, education and nursing.

J Block

J block is the main student administration building for the Caboolture campus, housing the student centre, classrooms, lecture theatres and computer labs.

Student Services

The Student Service Centre is open from 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday. Staff in the centre can help current students and prospective students with a wide range of issues such as course information, enrolment assistance and fee payment.

Prospective students can book an individual information session with Caboolture staff to assess their individual needs and provide valuable information about applying to university, receiving credit, pre-requisite requirements, study costs, and suitable course selection.

Computer lab

There are a number of student computer labs located at Caboolture including the lab in J block. Email, access to the Internet, library services, word processing and printing facilities are available from all lab computers to help students with their studies and assignment preparation. Specialist software is also available to support particular courses. There is wireless access available in a number of areas on campus so students can also bring in their laptops. Technology support is provided for students through the IT helpdesk (online and by phone) and also through online guides.

B Block

Located in B block is a coffee shop/restaurant, student lounge, bookshop and the library. QUT's Caboolture campus is co-located with Brisbane North Institute of TAFE, which means QUT students have access to the TAFE training restaurant and hairdressing salon.

Library

The Caboolture Library supports the information needs for students studying in the areas of business, education, creative industries and nursing. Students can also borrow from QUT libraries at Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove campuses.

Assignment Minder

Assignment Minder is a secure assignment drop-off and collection service for QUT students. Students can submit their assignments at the assignment minder desk at any campus, and collect their assignment from their home campus. The barcode on the assignment submission form is scanned along with the student's ID and the assignment is time and date stamped. The student will receive an email confirming submission of the assignment, and another email when their assignment has been marked and is ready for collection. The assignment is electronically tracked throughout the process to ensure the security of the student's work

Bookshop and student lounge

The QLD Textbook Warehouse (QTW) operates a bookshop and general stationery supply service from the student lounge in B Block. They stock the complete range of QUT mandatory and recommended textbooks.

The air-conditioned student lounge is used by students for recreation. Students have full access to the pool table and television plus vending machines and seating space. The student lounge is also stocked with plenty of magazines and community information so students can learn about upcoming events and activities happening locally.

Cafe

Isabella's Restaurant/Coffee Shop is located on the ground floor of B Block and offers a wide variety of hot meals and light snacks. Furnished with big, comfortable couches, Isabella's is a popular spot for students to meet and catch up over coffee.

D Block

The campus gym is located in D block and is fully air-conditioned with an impact-resistant floor. The gym is equipped with Life Stream equipment including cable weight machines, free weights, a rowing machine, exercise bikes, and exercise balls. Gym opening times vary during the year.

K Block

Students undertaking the nursing degree will have most of their classes in K block which opened in 2009. Facilities include state-of-the-art mannequins and fully equipped nursing clinical labs where students can learn hands-on nursing techniques.

H Block

Located in H block, the Oodgeroo Unit offers entry assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander wishing to study at QUT through the Assessment and Selection Program. The Unit at each campus is equipped with computing facilities, quiet places to study and work with tutors, and places to meet with other students.

Students are allocated a Unit staff member (Academic Advisor) with whom they meet regularly to discuss their academic progress. Staff assist students with their university studies in a caring environment and in addition, help with administrative, cultural or other concerns they may have related to their studies at QUT.

Courtyard

The courtyard is located in the heart of the campus and is the central meeting place for many students. Recently renovated and landscaped, the courtyard provides plenty of relaxation space for students to unwind between lectures. It's also where many of the campus social activities are hosted and during campus events many students enjoy sitting on the grass eating a BBQ lunch and listening to live music. Shade sails were installed in late 2009.

Sports court and sound pavillion

Completed in late 2009 the sports court is a multipurpose court which can be used for basketball, tennis, and soccer. There are three exercise stations surrounding the sports court which include a rowing machine, sit up bench, and chin up bars. Students can also have a game of table tennis on the fixed ping pong table located near the sports court, and enjoy entertainment from bands when performing live from the sound-proof pavilion.
