  • One scholarship is on offer in Semester 1, 2024.

Eligibility

This scholarship only applies to the four specified units. No previous/equivalent units you’ve studied and gained credit for, are eligible.

How to apply

Step 1: Write your cover letter

Write a cover letter explaining your reasons for applying for this scholarship and how this scholarship aligns with your career goals.

Step 2: Attach your resume

Your resume should include your:

  • personal details, including contact and citizenship/residency information
  • academic record, including transcripts from any institution other than QUT
  • professional qualifications
  • work experience
  • career goals
  • employment and volunteer history.

Step 3: Write your selection essay

Make sure you attach any academic transcripts, proof of study, and written references that you would like to submit in support of your application.

Step 5: Submit your application

You can submit your application at the same time as you apply for your course. Applications close at 11.59pm on the date advertised above. No late applications will be accepted.

Send your scholarship application to the buslaw.scholarships@qut.edu.au . An email confirming receipt of your application will be sent in reply to your submission.

What happens next?

Selection will be finalised before the week 4 census date (the last date you can withdraw from the course without financial penalty). The timing recognises that students in financial hardship need an outcome to make informed decisions about their enrolment.

Our panel will shortlist applications based on the selection criteria. If shortlisted, you’ll receive a phone call to schedule an interview. Both Zoom and in-person options are available.

Applicants will be notified of the outcome no later than 5pm on the Thursday of Week 4 of Semester. We’ll send a written confirmation of the application outcome, whether successful or unsuccessful.

Conditions

The scholarship fee reduction only applies to the 4 key units:

  • Responsible Enterprise (BSN550)
  • Financial Literacy and Decision Making (AY4571)
  • Fundraising and Philanthropy (AYN472)
  • Managing Nonprofits and Social Enterprises (AY4573)

You must be completing these units for the first time.

Structure your program to complete the 4 key units within 2 years to be eligible for the full amount of the scholarship. That is, at least 1 unit per semester must be completed to remain eligible for payment.

You can't hold any other ACPNS scholarship.

About the scholarship

Founded in 2001 by Myles McGregor-Lowndes, the Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies (ACPNS) aims to bring to the community the benefits of teaching, research, technology and service relevant to philanthropic and nonprofit communities. The establishment of ACPNS consolidated many years of teaching and research in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors and recognised QUT’s leadership in the field in Australia.

The Myles McGregor-Lowndes Scholarship was established by McGregor-Lowndes in 2017 to mark his transition to retirement, in the hope of continuing his tradition of investing in students to foster tomorrow’s community’s leaders.

This scholarship aims to assist future ACPNS students to fund the cost of their studies.
