QUT Business School Research Student Funding Scheme (RSFS) and Grant-in-aid (GIA)
You have to be a current QUT student to apply for this scholarship.

Eligibility details
You must :
- be currently enrolled in a research higher degree
- have completed your confirmation of candidature before travelling
- receive additional funding support from the QUT Business School or other sources.
You can't:
- be a QUT staff member
- receive more than one Grant-in-Aid during your candidature.
What you receive
You'll receive:
- up to $6,000 if you are a PhD student
- up to $2,000 if you are a Master of Business (Research) student
- up to $1,000 if you are a Bachelor of Business (Honours) student.
You may use this to pay for research related expenses, such as:
- travel for data collection
- presenting a paper at a conference (cannot be used for meals and only pays up to 70% of a return economy airfare)
- transcription costs (you will need to provide justification and two quotations, and a limit may be imposed)
- editing your thesis before examination. This requires approval by your Principal Supervisor
- thesis binding (maximum of 5 copies for PhD and masters students. Maximum of 4 copies for honours students)
- gift vouchers for participants in surveys or focus groups. You must apply for funding before offering such incentives. The gift vouchers must be purchased by a QUT finance officer after they've been approved
- visas.
You may not use it for:
- computer upgrades or laptops
- teaching relief
- local transport, telephone or postage.
How to apply
You need to:
- complete the application form (PDF file, 298.44 KB)
- submit the form to your supervisor by email for approval
Your supervisor then needs to submit your application to Research Support Office via email.
If you're submitting a hard copy, please send or deliver it to the Research Support Office.
What happens next
If you are successful, the Research Support Office will contact you by email.
Conditions
You must use the funds to present your research at an international conference or to undertake overseas study as part of your research.
