Eligibility details
You must:
- be an undergraduate student completing your final year (last 96 credit points) of a full-time, pre-service Education degree in 2013
- be experiencing hardship caused by your financial or social situation
- have a minimum GPA of 4.0.
What you receive
Each year, two Meakin Family Scholarships of $3,000 each are offered to two final year education students who are experiencing financial hardship or social disadvantage.
The $3,000 award is paid to each recipient in one instalment at the beginning of the academic year.
You are encouraged to make your own enquiries about the effect of such a scholarship on your taxation or any government benefits to which you are currently entitled, before making your application.
How to apply
You need to:
- complete the Meakin Family Scholarship application form (PDF file, 121.53 KB)
- sign the declaration
- attach certified copies of relevant proof of circumstances
- submit your application by 5 pm, 26 October 2012 by post or in person to the Faculty of Education student affairs office. Mark your application as private and confidential.
What happens next
A selection panel will allocate the scholarships according to the criteria, based on the information in the application. There will be no interviews.
We will advise the successful person by telephone and in writing. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified individually by email.
There may be a formal presentation of the scholarship at the Faculty of Education Student Achievement and Recognition Awards Ceremony in December, if the recipients agrees.
