Eligibility details

You must be:

  • an Australian citizen of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent
  • a full-time or part-time student in our Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or double degree incorporating the Bachelor of Laws
  • have completed 72 credit points towards your LLB or associated double degree.

You must be able to demonstrate:

  • financial and social hardship
  • academic aptitude
  • an ongoing commitment to the Indigenous community.

What you receive

You'll receive:

  • a $5,000 scholarship to cover HECS fees, tuition, books or living costs
  • a place in the McCullough Robertson work experience program.

The scholarship is paid as a cash stipend, with half of the amount being paid at the beginning of each semester.

Our selection panel will assess your application and shortlist applicants based on the scholarship criteria.

If you're shortlisted, we'll contact you to arrange an interview and confirm your interview by email.

If you're successful in your interview, we'll notify you by phone, as well as sending you a letter or email to confirm the details of your scholarship.

If your application is unsuccessful, we'll notify you by email.

Conditions

You must:

  • stay enrolled in a minimum of one law subject each semester
  • maintain a GPA of 4.0 (Pass) for each semester of the scholarship.

Background

The McCullough Robertson Scholarship for continuing Indigenous students is offered to Indigenous students enrolled in the Bachelor of Laws or associated double degrees who have completed 72 credit points towards their degree. The aim of the scholarship is to support Indigenous students who are experiencing financial hardship and to provide pathways into the private legal profession through work experience and ongoing contact with McCullough Robertson.
