Carla Patterson Memorial Scholarships
If your application is successful and you're assigned to a research project in the School of Public Health and Social Work, you may receive a Carla Patterson Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship has the same value, and terms and conditions as the Vacation Research Experience Scholarship (VRES).
Carla Patterson was a colourful personality whose cheerfulness in the face of illness was an inspiration to all. Carla was well-known for her efforts in equity issues and advancing women in the university environment. With Carla's guidance and vision, the then School of Public Health experienced expansion and maturation in public health research and developed a vibrant sense of community. Carla implemented additional scholarships along the same lines as the Vacation Research Experience Scholarship while Director of Research. The Carla Patterson Memorial Scholarships continue today and are dedicated to her memory.

Background
QUT offers a number of Vacation Research Experience Scholarships (VRES) over the summer vacation period.
VRES recipients are normally expected to participate in a project related to a supervisor's ongoing research program. The scholarships provide contact with active researchers and students have an opportunity to experience research work. This is particularly useful to students considering starting a postgraduate research degree.
