Eligibility details
- have confirmed candidature if you are enrolled in the doctoral program
- have the approval of your supervisor and Director of Research/Postgraduate Research Coordinator before travelling
- be presenting a paper or poster at an interstate or overseas conference as the first-named author if you are applying for a conference grant
- not have received a previous study or conference GIA during your candidature.
QUT staff are not normally eligible for GIA funding unless no other funding is available.
What you receive
The Grant-in-Aid scheme will fund 50% of a return economy airfare up to $1,000.
The Faculty of Health will match the Grant-in-Aid amount up to $1,000.
You may also allocate funding from your annual student allocation (normally $1,500) with the approval of your principal supervisor.
How to apply
You must:
- apply for Faculty approval to travel at least 3 weeks in advance
- read the Faculty of Health Travel Protocol and the relevant Grant-in-Aid Guidelines before submitting your application

What happens next
We will consider applications and notify you in writing within two weeks of receiving the application.
