You must:

have confirmed candidature if you are enrolled in the doctoral program
have the approval of your supervisor and Head of School or Director of Research before travelling
be presenting a paper or poster at an interstate or overseas conference as the first-named author if you are applying for a conference grant
not have received a previous study or conference GIA during your tenure
be receiving substantial funding support from the faculty.

QUT staff are not normally eligible for GIA funding unless no other funding is available.

The Grant-in-Aid scheme will fund 50% of a return economy airfare up to $1,000.

The Faculty of Health will match the Grant-in-Aid amount up to $1,000.

You may also allocate funding from your annual postgraduate student allowance (normally $1,500) with the approval of your principal supervisor.

You must:

apply before your proposed travel
submit the official application form (DOCX file, 68.79 KB) in time to ensure that it is received:
- at least 8 weeks in advance by the Director of Research
- at least 7 weeks in advance by your IHBI Domain Leader if you are an IHBI student member
- at least six weeks in advance by the faculty office
be at a stage in your candidature where you can obtain the best advantage from the opportunity
include a budget and other relevant documents, as detailed in the:

We will consider applications and notify you in writing within two weeks of receiving the application.
