Eligibility details

This scheme is highly competitive and application does not guarantee funding. Only one grant can be made per person per calendar year.

You must:

  • be a research higher degree student
  • be currently enrolled
  • have confirmed candidature (if relevant) prior to travelling
  • demonstrate that you have reached a stage where your studies will be substantially enhanced by overseas research (usually midway through candidature rather than near the beginning or the end).

You will be given priority if:

  • you have not previously received a grant from this scheme.

If you are a QUT staff member:

  • you are only eligible if you can provide proof that no other university or faculty funding is available.

What you receive

You'll receive:

  • up to 70% of the value of a return economy airfare
  • up to $500 towards the cost of accommodation.

How to apply

  1. Complete the International Data Collection Grants-in-Aid application form (PDF file, 75.78 KB) and your supporting documents.
  2. Make a copy of your application and supporting documents.
  3. Submit both the original and the copy to the Faculty of Education Research - Administration Officer.

What happens next

An appointed faculty committee will prepare a merit list of applications and submit them to the Education Research Executive for approval and allocation of funding. 

A Faculty Grants-in-Aid committee will meet in April and November and if you're successful, you will be notified in writing shortly after the meeting.

Conditions

Offers made to successful applicants remain valid for up to nine months after the date of offer. Retrospective applications will not be considered under any circumstances.
