Eligibility details

To receive the scholarship you must:

  • be enrolled full-time in BS05 Bachelor of Business or a double degree with a business component
  • have completed Year 12 at an Australian secondary school in 2012 or 2013
  • be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • have achieved an OP 1 or 2 (or equivalent)
  • not hold any other merit-based scholarship (except an Equity scholarship)
  • not have undertaken any university studies.

What you receive

A scholarship valued at $5,000, paid in two instalments in your first year of study.

You'll receive payments in your first and second semesters of study, after the semester census dates, provided that you have an active enrolment.

Conditions

  1. Purpose: The purpose of the 2014 Business Academic Excellence scholarship ("the Scholarship") is to help support a full-time student undertaking a degree Bachelor of Business degree or undergraduate double degree with a Business component ("the Degree") at the Queensland University of Technology ("QUT").
  2. Eligibility for the Scholarship: The recipient warrants that they meet the following criteria in order to accept this scholarship:
    • Completed high school in 2012 or 2013 onshore (i.e.- at an Australian school)
    • Have not undertaken any other tertiary studies, excluding START QUT or similar programs
    • Obtained an OP of 1 or 2 or equivalent rank upon completing high school
    • Are an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
    • Are not receiving any other academic merit scholarship at QUT.
  3. Duration of Scholarship: The Scholarship is tenable for one (1) year.
  4. Academic Requirements: Receipt of the Scholarship is subject at all times to the recipient:
    • 4.1. remaining enrolled in the Degree full-time in accordance with the program agreed with the Director of Undergraduate Studies, QUT Business School.
  5. Enrolment and Changes in Enrolment: The recipient must enrol in accordance in the Degree in accordance with the program agreed with the Director of Undergraduate Studies, QUT Business School. Changes to the recipient's enrolment must be approved by the Director of Undergraduate Studies, QUT Business School.
  6. Scholarship Value: The value of the scholarship is $5,000 divided into two (2) equal instalments of $2,500 per semester in the first year of the Degree.
  7. Use of Scholarship: The Scholarship is provided principally for educational purposes. The recipient may use the Scholarship to assist with any HECS-HELP and/or and any other additional expenses directly related to study of the Degree.
  8. Payment to Recipient: The recipient will receive the first payment of $2,500 after the Semester 1 census date in the year of commencement of the Degree. Provided the recipient continues to comply with the requirements set out in these Term and Conditions, a subsequent payment of $2,500 will be made after the Semester 2 census date in the year of commencement of the Degree. The recipient must provide and keep provided to QUT accurate bank details to ensure payments are processed correctly.
  9. Other requirements of Recipient: The recipient may be required to attend and participate in preparatory workshops conducted by QUT as directed by the QUT Business School. This may include, but is not limited to orientation sessions and other workshops.
  10. No other scholarships: The recipient must not accept any other academic scholarship for the duration of the Degree.
  11. Withdrawal from scholarship program: If the recipient wishes to withdraw from the Scholarship program they must advise the Director of Undergraduate Studies, QUT Business School at the earliest possible time. The recipient may be requested to refund to QUT any monies paid to the recipient in the semester in which the recipient withdraws from the Scholarship program. The recipient is NOT required to refund any monies paid for semester studies completed whilst still a participant in the Scholarship program.
  12. Termination of scholarship: QUT reserves the right in its sole discretion to terminate the Scholarship if the recipient does not meet or comply with the requirements set out in clauses 2 (Eligibility for the Scholarship), 4 (Academic Requirements), or if the recipient has committed serious misconduct.  If the Scholarship is terminated in accordance with this clause, no further payments will be made to the recipient and QUT may request the recipient to refund any monies paid by QUT to the recipient in the semester in which the Scholarship is terminated in accordance with this clause 11.  QUT's decision to terminate the Scholarship is final and there is no right of appeal.
  13. Tax exemption: The Scholarship has been deemed tax exempt by QUT, subject to any further determination made by the Australian Taxation Office.
  14. Recipient Warranty: The recipient warrants that there are no impediments to their ability to complete the Degree as part of the Scholarship program.  Should any impediment, problems or concerns arise at any stage before or during the scholarship program the recipient undertakes to contact the Scholarships, Prizes and Awards Officer and/or the Director, Undergraduate Studies at QUT without delay for guidance.
