Background

This scholarship was first offered in 1999 and is sponsored by Ashurst law firm (formerly Blake Dawson Waldron) in memory of the late Rod Bush, the first Managing Partner of the Brisbane office.

Rod Bush was the first Managing Partner of the firm's Brisbane office, and had the enjoyable task of attracting new Articled Clerks to what was then an unknown southern firm in Queensland. Rod looked for "that extra spark of enthusiasm", and was impressed by applicants who worked hard to put themselves through university and managed to excel academically.

Rod is sadly missed and Ashurst is pleased to dedicate this scholarship in his honour.
