Arrow Energy Indigenous Scholarship
The Arrow Energy Indigenous Tertiary Scholarship program will provide 25 tertiary scholarships to provide financial support for study and living costs.

Eligibility details
You must be:
- applying for or enrolled in one of our undergraduate or postgraduate coursework courses
- able to provide a copy of your Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent form endorsed by an incorporated Indigenous community organisation and with the common seal clearly displayed.
Studying science or engineering?
If you're applying for or enrolled in a Bachelor Engineering, or a Bachelor of Science (majoring in Biological Science, Earth Science or Environmental Science), you may be eligible for the Arrow Energy Resource Sector Indigenous Scholarship.
What you receive
You'll receive:
- two equal payments of $2,000. The first payment after the Semester 1 census date and the second payment after the Semester 2 census date.
- two QUT Bookshop vouchers worth $500 each, both provided before the start of the semester.
How to apply
You must:
- complete the Arrow Energy Indigenous Scholarship application form (PDF file, 253.92 KB)
- complete your response to the selection criteria
- sign the declaration
- attach your supporting documents.
What happens next
We will assess your application and score it against our selection criteria.
You will be advised of the outcome of your application in February 2013.
If your application is successful, you must formally accept the offer in writing within 7 working days of the offer being made.
Conditions
- The scholarship is tenable for the equivalent of one year full-time study and is subject to the recipient remaining enrolled in the relevant degree. The student must be enrolled full-time in a minimum of 3 units per semester. Students are required to be enrolled and studying in Semester 1, 2013 to be considered.
- This program comprises two scholarship types:
- a. The Arrow Energy Resource Sector Indigenous Scholarship. This will be offered to four students studying in any of the following QUT programs:
- Bachelor of Engineering
- Bachelor of Engineering dual degree
- Bachelor of Science (majoring in Biological Sciences, Earth Science or Environment Science)
- Bachelor of Science dual degree (with aforementioned major)
- b.The Arrow Energy Indigenous Scholarship. This will be offered to two students in any QUT program.
Should less than four eligible applications to the Arrow Energy Resource Sector Indigenous Scholarship be received, the number of un-awarded Arrow Energy Resource Sector Indigenous Scholarships will be added to the available Arrow Energy Indigenous Scholarship for that year. - a. The Arrow Energy Resource Sector Indigenous Scholarship. This will be offered to four students studying in any of the following QUT programs:
- Each recipient of the scholarship must maintain a Grade Point Average of at least 4. The Oodgeroo Unit, in consultation with Arrow Energy, may terminate a recipient's scholarship if the recipient does not maintain satisfactory academic progress of a 4 point grade average per semester. A scholarship recipient will be considered to have maintained satisfactory progress if they successfully complete all courses in each semester of their enrolment.
- Scholarship recipients who fail some or all of their courses will be considered for continuation of scholarship if they can demonstrate a strong desire to continue their academic program and adhere to the recommended course of action as suggested by the Oodgeroo Unit. Scholarship recipients should apply in writing to request continuation of scholarship to the scholarship panel. Student support, including mentoring and Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Scheme tutoring, is provided by QUT’s Oodgeroo Unit, and scholarship recipients will be encouraged to use this service.
- Should a scholarship recipient withdraw from their academic program, the scholarship may be reallocated to another suitable student, at the discretion of the Oodgeroo Unit and Arrow Energy.
- Scholarship recipients who wish to change their academic program should advise the scholarship panel in writing and seek approval to continue the scholarship support.
- Should a scholarship recipient need or wish to suspend their scholarship for one or more semesters (maximum one academic year) they should apply to the scholarship panel in writing for approval. Should the scholarship suspension be approved, the funds will be held by the Oodgeroo Unit, QUT or reallocated to a student if possible.
- The recipient must formally accept in writing the offer of a scholarship within 7 working days of the offer being made. If the recipient does not respond within 7 days, the offer will be rescinded.
- The value of the scholarships is $5,000 per year, and will be paid as follows: in two equal instalments of $2,000 - one payment following census date in Semester 1, the second following census date in Semester 2. a QUT Bookshop voucher of $500 will be provided before the beginning of each semester to allow timely purchase of textbooks.
- The funds are to be used to support the scholarship recipient through their current study year.
- The recipient may be required to participate in publicity to promote the scholarship.
- This scholarship has been deemed tax exempt by QUT, but ultimate determination will be made by the Australian Taxation Office. Please retain this statement with your tax documentation.

The Arrow Energy Indigenous Tertiary Scholarship program will provide 25 tertiary scholarships to support students undertaking study in 2013 and 2014.
These scholarships will ensure students have access to the resources they need to complete their academic study, including:
- stationery
- textbooks
- internet access and IT requirements
- day-to-day living expenses such as travel and accommodation.
Scholarship recipients will also have access to mentoring, tutoring and access to peer support networks.
