Background
The QUT Amy Clough scholarship is named in memory of Amy Clough, a courageous and influential Queenslander.
University student Amy Clough had an impact on the lives of people around the world. Diagnosed with Hodgkin 's lymphoma at age 16, Amy made the most out of her life. Her active and positive social media presence saw her connect not only with young people, but also with global and national celebrities, and in particular Delta Goodrem, a cancer survivor herself. Through her love of football, Amy also built a friendship with the Brisbane Broncos' Darren Lockyer. Amy Clough died in 2012 at age 22, leaving behind a legacy of inspiration and friendship.
The QUT Amy Clough scholarship is a partnership between QUT, Sony Music Australia, Nova Radio 106.9, and the Brisbane Broncos. Together these organisations have come together to honour Amy's memory by supporting other university students whose lives have been impacted by cancer.
The QUT Amy Clough scholarship will cover the first-year tuition fees of one student per year for three years, providing three students with the opportunity to do what Amy Clough wanted to do: complete a bachelors degree. In honour of Amy Clough's interests, the scholarship will be offered to students entering the QUT Bachelor of Entertainment Industries, Bachelor of Journalism, and the Bachelor of Music.
The QUT Amy Clough Scholarship will be offered in 2013, 2014 and 2015. One scholarship will be made each year.
