Master of Education (Information Learning Connections) focuses on learning and teaching in rapidly changing information-rich environments. It is designed for professionals, from varied backgrounds, who are seeking to expand their knowledge and practice as twenty-first century educators.

The four core units present fresh perspectives on essential topics of contemporary education. They draw connections between using information and learning. They allow you to develop awareness of emerging educational trends and expertise in using new information, communication and learning technologies.

Cyberlearning explores current concerns, theory and practical applications of online learning and Web 2.0 resources, through a process of exploration, co-creation, evaluation and reflection.

Youth Popular Culture and Text involves critical engagement with social media and contemporary texts, in order to develop understandings about the cultural capital of youth and their lived experiences.

Information-Learning Nexus extends concepts of information literacy by focusing on critical, ethical and creative uses of information and the design and implementation of inquiry-based learning.

Designing Spaces for Learning opens a window onto collaborative design concepts and processes, fostering creative solutions for real classroom, library or training contexts, both physical and virtual.

Units

In the Information-Learning Connections study area you are required to complete the two (2) MEd core units:

  • EDN610 Professional Dialogues in Education
  • EDN611 Professional Applications of Research

plus the four (4) Information-Learning Connections study area core units:

  • CLN601 Cyberlearning
  • CLN603 Designing Spaces for Learning
  • CLN647 Youth, Popular Culture, and Texts
  • CLN650 Information-Learning Nexus

as well as two (2) option units (a total of 96 credit points).

You are permitted to enrol in a minimum of one (1) unit per semester.

Entry requirements

An appropriate four (4) year Bachelor degree or equivalent at a standard acceptable to the Executive Dean or a three (3) year Bachelor degree or equivalent at a standard acceptable to the Executive Dean PLUS at least one year of appropriate professional or industrial experience.  (Applicants who have completed a three (3) year Bachelor degree or equivalent are asked to supply an original copy of a letter from their employer outlining details of their employment history)

Course fees

Your actual fees may vary depending on which units you choose. All fees are based on current fixed fee prices. We review fees annually.

2013: CSP $3,000 (indicative) per Semester (48 credit points) (subject to annual review)
