Details

Graduate Certificate in Education (Education Research: Theory and Practice) encourages and enhances critical thinking in a specific area of education of interest to you. This program is a useful introduction for students who are interested in research or who would like to meet potential supervisors for future study. Discipline units will develop your skills and knowledge necessary to design and conduct educational research in innovative ways.

Career outcomes

You will graduate from this course with an understanding of research principles and methodologies. You will have the option to progress into research higher degree study or work on a research project in your professional career.

Units

In the Education Research: Theory and Practice study area you are required to complete the following four (4) core units (a total of 48 credit points):

• EDN612 Conducting Innovative Educational Research;
• EDN619 Educational Research: Design, Methodology and Analysis;
• EDN604-1 Facilitated Study Unit; and
• EDN604-2 Facilitated Study Unit.

EDN604-1 and EDN604-2 MUST be taken together, in the same semester or consecutive semesters. The two units together constitute a 24 credit point research project.

Entry requirements

An appropriate four (4) year Bachelor degree or equivalent at a standard acceptable to the Executive Dean or a three (3) year Bachelor degree or equivalent at a standard acceptable to the Executive Dean PLUS at least one year of appropriate professional or industrial experience.  (Applicants who have completed a three (3) year Bachelor degree or equivalent are asked to supply an original copy of a letter from their employer outlining details of their employment history)
