Details

Graduate Certificate in Education (Early Years) is designed to extend your early childhood knowledge and skills. Early Years study area covers significant material related to current education policies, nationally and internationally. You will develop critical understandings and new knowledge about key early years’ education debates, policy and issues, and engage you in new ways of thinking about young children, their families and communities and the implications of this for teaching and learning in the early years.

Graduate Certificate in Education (Early Years) enables professionals working in early education and care settings, schools, child protection or family services and other relevant contexts to enhance their knowledge of working with young children, their families and communities.
 

Units

In the Early Years study area you are required to complete the following four (4) core units (a total of 48 credit points):

• EAN601 Investigating Curriculum and Pedagogy in Early Childhood;
• EAN603 Child Development in Context;
• EAN614 Arts and Sciences in Early Childhood; and
• EAN616 Language, Literacies and Communication in Early Childhood.

Entry requirements

An appropriate four (4) year Bachelor degree or equivalent at a standard acceptable to the Executive Dean or a three (3) year Bachelor degree or equivalent at a standard acceptable to the Executive Dean PLUS at least one year of appropriate professional or industrial experience.  (Applicants who have completed a three (3) year Bachelor degree or equivalent are asked to supply an original copy of a letter from their employer outlining details of their employment history)
