Are you in Year 10, 11 or 12 and wanting an exciting, useful and meaningful career, using your love of STEM? Want to meet like-minded people who share your passions? You need to be at QUT in July!
The two-day Engineering Link Project invites Year 10, 11 and 12 students to get hands on in university-level projects, working with practising engineers and experiencing activities that will open their eyes to possible career paths.
Where: QUT Garden Point campus
When: Thursday 4 & Friday 5 July 2019, 8.30am - 4pm
Cost: $65 (includes course, materials, lunches)
What to expect:
All students will participate in two full-day workshops of their choice in different engineering disciplines. Each workshop is designed to challenge their creativity, knowledge of the maths and science learnt at school, and introduce them to the engineering paradigm.
A professional engineer will outline their career and what a day in the life of an engineer is really like, then present a problem or scenario that students will have to solve in small teams. Teams wills test materials, complete design calculations and submit a proposal to the engineer. The engineer will evaluate each solution against the criteria and declare the winning consortium.
During the two days, students will also experience QUT Engineering by working in labs and getting a feel for university life.
