Sport

Brisbane's climate allows for an outdoor lifestyle and many sporting activities. Water sports include sailing, rowing, skiing, swimming, surfing and fishing. Four codes of football, cricket and absailing are just a few of the sporting pastimes enjoyed by Brisbane residents. The city boasts excellent sporting facilities including the ANZ and Suncorp stadiums, the famous 'Gabba' cricket ground (which is also now home to Brisbane's Australian Football team), the Brisbane Entertainment Centre and Chandler Aquatic Centre. With over 1000 parks and gardens and many kilometres of bikeways and walking paths, ample opportunities are available for everyone, young and old, to indulge in sport and recreation. Visit Our Brisbane for information about a range of recreational activities and events in Brisbane.

Culture

Brisbane boasts a rich and diverse cultural life. The Brisbane Powerhouse Centre for the Live Arts presents live art, dance, clowning, comedy, installations and exhibitions year-round. The Queensland Cultural Centre, incorporating the Queensland Art Gallery, Performing Arts Complex, Queensland Museum and the State Library provides a focus for much of Brisbane's cultural life. Annual cultural festivals, such as the Greek Community's Paniyiri Festival, reflect Brisbane's cosmopolitan lifestyle and multicultural population.

Entertainment

Brisbane is a hotbed of live music with local and international touring bands frequently playing in the Fortitude Valley entertainment precinct, the centre of Brisbane's late-night culture. As well, latin pop, jazz, rap, techno, reggae, rock, funk, punk, gothic, folk/roots and fusion bands play nightly in Brisbane's inner-city and suburban pubs while you can enjoy live comedy, cabaret, drag shows and karoake in restaurants, cafes, bars and clubs around the city.

A feast of festivals, exhibitions and performances offer the people of Brisbane the best of local and international talent while Brisbane's numerous theatres, the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra produce a constantly changing program of entertainment.
