Networking night offers integrated system insights
Two of Australia's leading IT experts on ERP systems will visit QUT on March 11 to discuss the benefits of businesses integrating their information systems - whether they're a coffee chain or a billion-dollar corporation.
The "ERP for the Real World" event will feature keynote speakers Alan Hasketh (general manager of group information services for the SuperRetail Group, which includes Supercheap Auto, BCF, Rebel Sport, and Amart All Sports) and Paul Garrity (SAP's mobile solutions manager for Australia and New Zealand).
Dr Darshana Sedera from QUT's Study-ERP Group said ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems were being adopted by more and more medium-to-large businesses.
"Whether you run a coffee shop chain or a billion-dollar business, there are many potential benefits of integrating the way you manage your accounting, human capital, supply chains, customer relationships, sales, and other areas," he said.
"New innovations such as multiple database integration, ERP on mobile devices, analytics and cloud computing is changing the nature of how ERP systems work."
The March 11 event will cover the broader context of businesses adopting ERP and the diffusion of new technologies such as cloud and mobile computing through new and innovative business models. It is aimed at IT practitioners, students, organisations keen to collaborate on ERP research, and QUT ERP alumni.
Information on QUT's ERP short courses will also be available on the night.
QUT's Study-ERP Group is one of Australia's leading ERP research groups, with projects including industry-linked work and more than 10 PhD studies. The group provides ERP industry training and also hosts the SAP u-academy, delivering SAP certification courses.
It is based at QUT's new Science and Engineering Centre, which will also host the ERP for the Real World night.
