What is a professional doctorate?
A professional doctorate allows you to integrate high-level research into your professional life. Normally, a professional doctorate at QUT consists of:
- a component of coursework to help you transition from work to research study
- literature review
- research project planning and development
- research project implementation, or 2-3 smaller projects
- project reports or published papers that demonstrate your findings.
Who should consider a professional doctorate?
Professional doctorates are most suitable for those who have considerable professional experience, and are seeking career development through high-level, applied research.
Those enrolled in professional doctorates make substantial contributions to solving a current industry problem through the application of existing theories in new or innovative ways, or through the development of new evidence-based practice.
How long will a professional doctorate take to complete?
A professional doctorate usually takes three years full-time or six years part-time.
