Overview
Transport solutions that are multimodal, holistic and sustainable are the cornerstone of this research program. The program places a strong emphasis on postgraduate training in transportation systems.
The Transport System program is multidisciplinary and actively fosters the establishment of a strong transport research capability that cuts across schools and faculties.
QUT is a leading transportation research university in Australia, focusing on applied research into the efficient, safe and environmentally sound movement of people and freight.

Details
QUT has a number of researchers who have a significant interest and strong research track record in Transport and Logistics. Collectively, QUT researchers have been conducting significant research across several disciplines. With a collaborative approach using staff from across the Faculties, QUT has established a significant profile in transport education and research.
The Transport and Logistics group consists of researchers in the Faculties of Built Environment and Engineering, Health, Science and Technology and the Business School. The projects currently underway involve over 30 postgraduate students and have very strong industry support. The group has established a number of national and international links.
Smart mobility demonstrator
"Our entire way of life has become reliant on transport. The simple need to get from A to B. The increasing demand on transportation suggests the need for utilizing our existing infrastructure to its fullest potential. The key to this solution lies in accessing information from the network. What if all the pieces of the transport network puzzle could come together wouldn't it be easier to get from A to B"
In 2009 QUT undertook the Smart Mobility Demonstrator project as a means to raise awareness about the capabilities of using real time travel information to address congestion and reliability issues on the transport network. The DVD is designed to open the doors to the possibilities of how users can be provided with more accessible information, greater choice of transport modes and greater reliability for travel, through the provision of real time travel information.
It advocates the development of an A2B application that with research and underpinning investment by network operators could be a reality for transport users in South East Queensland and adapted to other countries around the world.
