Details

This research project builds on the pioneering landmark study The Rise and Fall of Marvellous Melbourne (1978) by Graeme Davison. It seeks to supplement and expand upon Davison's study by providing detailed insights into the lives and social networks of those who constituted that city's identity. The study will cover a range of areas, including manners, street life, popular imagery, literature, architecture, theatre, and sport, so as to bring greater historical insight into the city during the period 1859-1926
