Overview
Project status: In progress
This project is to supplement the project CRC30084 Biosecurity Quarantine Model System and develop the terrestrial plant and vertebrate components of a multi-component biosecurity surveillance program. This project occurs within the Greater Gorgon natural gas development project in a nature reserve on Barrow Island, Western Australia.
The CRC NPB has been contracted to undertake the project by Chevron Australia Pty Ltd, the lead partner of the Gorgon Joint Venture. State government approval has been granted for building a gas plant on the island, conditional upon rigorous biosecurity, including a detection program with specified statistical power for non-indigenous species (NIS).
