Overview
The political and institutional settings which encourage innovation at an industry, regional and national level have become a major focus in both policy and academic debates concerning economic transformation. The projects in this theme have examined the innovation support infrastructure for high growth enterprises including the role of regional clusters, university-industry linkages and the commercialisation of new technologies. In addition, the way in which policy and institutional environments impact on the capacity of industries to upgrade in global production networks has become a major focus of research activity particularly in relation to developing economies.
