Overview

Project status: In progress

QUT Business School was recently invited by the Global Entrepreneurship Research Association (GERA) to become the Australian representative for GEM. Now into its 12th year, this 50+ country strong project is by far the largest and most influential policy international research program in existence in the area of entrepreneurship, and increasingly it is yielding high tier scholarly output as well.

The project annually assesses entrepreneurial climate and national levels of entrepreneurial activity (of different forms) through large population surveys and expert interviews.

Through the accumulation of years and countries this creates a unique data base also for scholarly purposes. The scholarly value is further enhanced by deepening on varying special topics and local extensions undertaken by individual countries or groups thereof. The proposed Centre will seek collaboration with colleagues from around Australia in developing such extensions within the GEM project. External sponsorship will be sought for full GEM participation from 2011 and onwards.
