Overview

Project status: In progress

Very little is known about the role of host plants in the population dynamics of Bactrocera tryoni, the Queensland fruit fly. Bactrocera tryoni is Australia's worst insect pest of horticultural products and costs the country an estimated $100 million per year. This project will investigate how different host plant factors influence B. tryoni distribution and abundance, and will incorporate results into a predictive population model.
