Overview
Project status: In progress
The Bactrocera dorsalis complex of tropical fruit flies are the primary off-shore threats to Australian horticulture. Because of their close genetic and morphological similarity, identifying individual species within the complex is very difficult. This project will carry out parallel studies in molecular biology, morphological taxonomy and behaviour to determine likely species limits for flies within the complex and then use that information to develop appropriate diagnostic markers.
