Overview

Project status: In progress

This project is to develop the statistical design of a multi-component biosecurity surveillance program. This project will take place within the Greater Gorgon natural gas development project in a nature reserve on Barrow Island, Western Australia.

The CRC NPB has been contracted to undertake the project by Chevron Australia Pty Ltd, the lead partner of the Gorgon Joint Venture. State government approval has been granted for building a gas plant on the island, conditional upon rigorous biosecurity, including a detection program with specified statistical power for non-indigenous species (NIS). The project focus is on terrestrial invertebrates and a supplementary project was created to develop surveillance plans for terrestrial plants and vertebrates (CRC10117 Statistical Design of Terrestrial Plant and Vertebrate Surveillance).
