Overview
We aim to open the 'black box' of board operations by conducting a series of studies in the boardrooms of Australian organisations. Using a multi-theoretic approach and cutting-edge socio-metric technology, the group responds to calls in the literature to examine what boards actually do and how directors contribute to corporate outcomes.
Research foci include communication patterns in the boardroom, board decision-making processes, and the use of power and skills by individual directors. The ultimate goal is to contribute to theory and practice by enhancing our basic understanding of board dynamics and its impact on board effectiveness.
