QUT's four research institutes demonstrate the university's commitment to interdisciplinary research. The institutes seek solutions to problems that necessarily require input from multiple disciplines. Bringing together experts from across the university, the institutes break the bounds of traditional disciplinary research teams. The four institutes are:

Institute for Creative Industries and Innovation

Building on QUT's international leadership in addressing creative innovation, national innovation systems and creative human capital.

Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation

Tackling problems facing Australia's ageing population and pursuing solutions to global health and wellness challenges.

Information Security Institute

Consolidating QUT's long-term reputation as a world leader in information security.

Institute for Sustainable Resources

Addressing the issues of climate change, energy use, renewable technologies and sustainable communities.
