The members or users in a social network can be very different with different background and different interests, and the information shared and exchanged within a social network also can be very diverse. One of the key challenges of the Web based social networks as an information sharing and exchanging channel is how to manage healthy relationships among community users and ensure the quality of the information shared and exchanged within the community. The aim of this research is to investigate and develop techniques for managing trust among users, reputation management for public services and users as well, and techniques for information filtering and recommendation in order to satisfy users information needs.
