Overview

Topic status: We're looking for students to study this topic.

Bayesian statistics is an exciting area of research that involves the construction of statistical models to combine data and other prior information in a statistical model that probabilistically describes a complex problem. Our BRAG (Bayesian Research and Applications) group undertakes research into the development of Bayesian models and Bayesian networks, elicitation of expert informed priors, efficient computational methods for fitting Bayesian models, and application of the models to important problems in genetics, medicine, ecology, natural resource monitoring and industry. Many of these applications are undertaken in direct collaboration with an industry partner. As a postgraduate student in our group, you will work closely with a Research Associate and, where appropriate an industry collaborator, and contribute to frontier research in model development, Bayesian theory, expert elicitation, computation and/or new applications of Bayesian statistics. The project can be more strongly methodological or applied, depending on your background and interest.
