Making movies is a business and the motivation of a business is to generate profits. In the motion picture industry, hiring an actor that is deemed a star is seen as a risk management strategy. However, there is no guarantee that a movie star makes a movie financially attractive.

This project will highlight the various factors that will assist in determining if hiring a star does have an impact on the economic success of the film.

As an innovative strategy the project will apply a counterfactual analysis.
