Overview

Topic status: We're looking for students to study this topic.

Agricultural systems emit nearly 1/5 of Australia's greenhouse gas emissions. The ability to predict greenhouse gas emissions from agricultural soils using simulation models will allow the development of agronomic strategies to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions. Existing plant and soils models will be modified to include a biophysical understanding of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide emissions from soils. The student will work with a large research group monitoring greenhouse gas emissions from a wide variety of soils across Australia using advance field and laboratory techniques.
