Overview

Topic status: We're looking for students to study this topic.

The Samford Valley is a confined catchment on the western fringe of Brisbane. The proximity to the city makes it an attractive location for commuters who enjoy a rural lifestyle close to a major city. The increasing urbanisation of this valley is having profound impacts with land use change impacting on water quality in the South Pine River and adjacent waterways. The project will investigate the impacts of urbanisation on water quality and utilise a catchment simulation model to examine climate scenarios for future planning. QUT have a dedicated research facility for data collection with the Samford Valley. The student should have significant skills in GIS and remote sensing to undertake this project.
