The amount of information available on the Web has been increasing dramatically. Web users are often overwhelmed by huge amounts of information and are faced with a great challenge to find the most needed information. The aim of this research project is to develop techniques that can provide users with personalized and reliable information recommendations based on user profiles that are automatically constructed by mining the online user-generated content such as tags, reviews and blogs available in Web 2.0 environment without requiring users to enter explicit item ratings or trust statements.
