Overview

Topic status: We're looking for students to study this topic.

Various types of printers are widely used in offices and homes around the world and they have become standard indoor electronic equipment. However, nanoparticle emissions from laser printers were just reported only recently and are currently a topic of scientific investigations. At this point the dynamics of nanoparticle formation and dispersion are not well understood. The aim of the project will be to consider the following aspects: (i) developing and using various methods to study the relationship between aerosol particle emission and the fuser roller temperature for high and low emitting printers, and (ii) interpreting the results in terms of the physics of particle formation and transport.
